Protect your right to vote
The “SAVE Act” (H.R.22/S.128) would prevent millions of people from registering to vote—as many as half the number who voted in the 2024 presidential election.
We must convince our Senators to vote against this bill.
Status
This bill is being considered by both chambers at the same time under different codes:
- H.R.22 has passed the House.
- S.128 is in Senate committee. Our Senators on the Committee on Rules and Administration will decide whether the bill advances to a vote.
If the Senate passes this bill, then it will be signed by the President and become law.
What would happen?
The SAVE Act (H.R.22/S.128) would prevent roughly 20–90 million Americans from registering to vote.
Here’s what could happen to you after your next move, under the SAVE Act:
- When you try to register online, you find that online registration has been taken down: you need to register in person under the new rules.
- When you come in during work hours with your REAL ID ready to go, you’re told that a REAL ID is no longer enough. You now need a birth certificate.
- When you find your birth certificate and come back, you’re told that your birth certificate will not be accepted. Because you’re one of 69 million people who changed their name after marriage, you now need a name-change document.
- When you request the name-change document from the county clerk, and receive it, and return with it, you’re told that you will not be able to register to vote, because the registration deadline passed while you were navigating the obstacles.
